This panel introduces Debris Magazine’s new issue, Illuminated Manuscript, which explores the evolving nature of faith and its intersection with writing and resistance. The event will begin with an introduction by co-editor Adalya Nash Hussein, followed by readings from contributors Anna Kate Blair and Wen-Juenn Lee. The discussion will delve into the role of archives in writing, examining how writers find and use them, and how republishing archives can reshape their meanings. Additional topics include the influence of the editing process on our understanding of archival material and the impact of visual elements on readers.
